Law of Attraction

noun

The belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person's life.

In broader usage, the Law of Attraction refers to the idea that by focusing attention on desired outcomes—and by maintaining the emotions and beliefs that match those outcomes—a person can influence the circumstances, opportunities, and events that enter their experience.

The phrase is most commonly associated with the New Thought movement and with later popular works such as The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, though similar ideas appear in spiritual, philosophical, and self-help literature stretching back more than a century.
